Your missions
EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.
In particular, EPR-E is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.
At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
Hinkley Point ‘C’ (HPC) is a vital part of the UK’s future energy strategy. As the first of the UK’s next generation of nuclear power stations (EPR), HPC is both of high profile and high complexity. The project is delivered through an organization that comprises multi-disciplinary teams. The MEH program is assigned to deliver the Mechanical / Electrical / HVAC component in terms of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC).
Due to our ongoing project commitments, we are recruiting for a Mechanical Construction Lead Engineer to join our CMT – Construction Management Team)
The Mechanical Construction Lead Engineer will have the responsibility to ensure delivery of the mechanical activities for the life cycle of the contract or work package in accordance with the buildings Project schedule. Reporting to the Project Manager their area or disciplines, they will ensure planning and delivery in accordance with all safety, quality, time, and cost parameters to meet the needs of the Project.
Mechanical Construction Lead Engineer on behalf on NNB (HPC) will be responsible for the following:
- Guaranteeing that Safety is the overriding priority for any activity performed during Pre-Construction activities which includes nuclear safety as well as Industrial Safety. By Planning the work, the Mechanical Construction Lead Engineer must recognise the importance of a strong Nuclear Safety and Quality culture (conformance with the requirement, implementation of the site adaptation, non-conformance treatment) and the importance of a “right first-time” attitude including the implementation of lessons learnt and share good practice.
- Drive the mechanical activity (mainly piping within buildings) from the site delivery to the handover to Commissioning. This includes all the preparation activities before the physical start of the activities in the building (documentation, procurement of material, interfaces with other Programmes, synthesis of MEH activities, commissioning needs, access) by gathering project data and producing reports for management review.
- Implementation of the MEH L4 schedule (4 weeks and 16 weeks look ahead)
- Keep abreast of updates and alert the management in case of change and potential risks.

Within EPR-E, the CMT is part of the Site Support Integrated Team of EPR-E HPC directorate. The position is seconded within EPR-E. EPR-E (EDF EPR Engineering UK) is responsible for delivering the design for a number of buildings, systems and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project through an integrated team, to support to HPC construction activities and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. and set up a team called the CMT (Construction Management Team) to support, drive and steer the works of the MEH Alliance.
- MEH End to End Engineering team is currently circa 120 engineers
